Disneys Coronado Springs Resort is a moderate resort with a Mexican flair. This resort can also serve as a convention center. For this reason, it is a little different from the other Disney resorts in the moderate price range.
Some of the differences are found in the amenities that are offered. In addition to what you would expect from a moderately priced resort, you also have access to a fitness center. There is no charge for the use of the fitness center.
The resort also has a hair salon and a spa. These services are available for an extra charge.
Another difference is in the type of rooms that are available. Along with the rooms with two double beds or a king bed, the resort also offers a variety of suites. The prices of the suites however do not reflect that of a moderate resort. For this reason, our focus will be on the standard rooms only.
Disneys Coronado Springs Resort has almost 2,000 rooms. The rooms are grouped into three distinct sections that surround a 15 acre lake called Lago Dorado.
The Casitas section has the most rooms. The look and feel of these rooms, the buildings and the landscaping in this area are similar to the architecture of Santa Fe.
The Ranchos section is the next largest and has a more rustic appeal . The buildings resemble pueblo style housing.
Cabanas is the third and last section, and it is the smallest of the three sections. The landscaping and building here look like they could be on the Mexican coast.
The standard rooms are the same for all three sections. Each has either one king bed or two double beds, and there is a little over 300 square feet. The bathrooms are basically the same as other moderate resorts except that the bathrooms at Coronado Springs only have one sink.
Each room also has an armoire that holds a TV and has roomy shelves and drawers for you to store your clothes. Other furniture it the room consists of a table with two chairs, and a nightstand.
Hairdryers, iron/ironing boards, coffee makers and refrigerators are also in each room.
Rates for the standard rooms start at $149.00/night and get higher depending on the time of year. Double rooms sleep up to four people.
While you are on a break from the parks, you can spend a few hours enjoying everything that the resort has to offer. The main recreational area is called The Dig Site.
This is where the resort's main pool is located. A giant Mayan pyramid is the focal point that has cascading water flowing down into the pool.
A Jaguar Water slide adds a hint of adventure to your play time. It's easy to spend hours here and not get tired of all the fun.
There is also a huge 20 person hot tub in this area for the adults to enjoy and a playground for the kids to enjoy. If the Dig Site is too crowded or loud for your enjoyment, you can go to the quiet pool that is in each section of the resort.
Disneys Coronado Springs Resort also has a beautiful lake to be enjoyed. You can rent a bike or take a walk and enjoy the scenery. It is a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
You have several dining options at the resort. The Pepper Mill is a food court that offers many options for a good meal, including both American and Mexican favorites like burgers and steaks or tacos. You can even get a specialty coffee or a margarita. But if you would prefer a more relaxing sit down meal, check out Maya Grill. It has a wonderful wood fired grill that turns out all kinds of tasty dishes. The wine list is worth taking a look at, too.
When you stay at Disneys Coronado Springs Resort you get great accommodations, wonderful food and exciting playtime opportunities. You get all of this for a moderate price. I'd say you certainly get a lot for your money. Staying here is a good value indeed.
