Downtown Disney's West Side opened in 1997 and is located along the banks of Buena Vista Lagoon. If you are looking at Downtown Disney from across the lagoon from Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort, you can identify the Westside section by the huge pineapple that sits outside Bongos restaurant. The West Side section is the largest of the three Downtown areas and includes a mix of
restaurants
, shops and entertainment opportunities. Here guests will find some of the most interesting shopping and
unique entertainment
to be found in all of Disney.
I have to admit that we usually spend most of our time walking around the Marketplace section of Downtown instead of the Pleasure Island or Westside sections. The reason for this preference is because the Marketplace seems to be more family oriented which appeals to me and my family. You will not find as many Disney themed shops in Westside. Instead, you will find a more specialized shopping experience with stores like Starabilias and Magnetron.
If you want a day outside of the major Disney theme parks but still want great options in dining,
shopping opportunities
and excellent entertainment possibilities then you cannot go wrong with Disney's Westside.
