Disney World Restaurants Great Table Service Options
Dining out at any of the Disney World restaurants could be one of the highlights of any trip to Walt Disney World. When you go on vacation what do you look forward to the most? Your answers, like mine, might include spending time with family, getting away from the stress of work and school, and not having to cook for yourself. The different answers could be endless but I would be willing to bet that most of you would agree that food is an important part of any vacation.
There are so many Disney World restaurants available that you shouldn't have any trouble finding a table service restaurant to suit the needs of your family. Finding the right restaurant where your family can enjoy a sit down meal together is important because enjoying a good meal in a comfortable setting makes any meal special especially when you are on vacation. It makes for a good time and fun memories.
To make sure your dining memories are sweet and not sour make sure you secure advanced reservations. This means you need to plan ahead to find the restaurants that interest you and your family then use Disney's online
advanced reservation system
or call 407-WDW-DINE as soon as possible. Reservations at any and all of the Disney World restaurants go quickly so don't wait to the last minute or you will risk not getting into the restaurants you want.
Any type of cuisine can be found at the Disney World restaurants which can make it fun to try new foods in a nonthreatening environment. Parents can use vacation as an opportunity to introduce the kids to new tastes and flavors from around the world. Epcot is an excellent place to dine if you want to try new international flavors.
Epcot is heaven for any foodie. All of the countries in the
World Showcase
feature fabulous menus and many have entertainment too. For example, you can watch a belly dancer perform while you're dining at Marrakesh, or admire the skill of your chef at Teppanyaki's in
Japan.
Atmosphere is a big plus when it comes to enjoying a meal that's why we especially like to dine under the stars of the night sky at the San Angel Inn in the
Mexican pavilion
and we very much enjoy the food from the Chefs de France. The environment makes us feel like we are dining in a little French Bistro on the streets of Paris. Even though we have not tried it yet, many people have recommended the Das Biergarten in
Germany.
Oktoberfest is celebrated everyday and guests can enjoy the music and are encouraged to dance during the meal.
We have tried to get reservations at Le Cellier in
Canada
for the past couple of years because we have heard that the steaks and cheddar cheese soup are outstanding. We hope to secure a reservation at this very popular Disney world restaurant for our next trip and maybe this time we will have success.
There are several table service restaurants and tons of
counter service
options in the
Magic Kingdom.
The most popular Disney World Restaurant is Cinderella's Royale Table located in the Castle. It is by far the most difficult reservation to obtain so plan ahead and call as soon as you have a hotel reservation number. If you want Italian food you can go to Tony's to enjoy pizza and pasta dishes.
Our favorite table service restaurant in the Magic Kingdom is the Liberty Tree Tavern. The food is served family style and includes hearty selections like roast beef, pork loin, and turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. There is also salad and fresh green beans. Yum. The one thing you can't get at the Magic Kingdom is alcohol. To learn a little about the Crystal Palace restaurant located just off of
Main Street
see our
Character meal
page.
You can't beat the theme (and food) at the
Disney's Hollywood Studios
restaurants. You'll be transported back in time to Mom's kitchen at the 50's Prime Time. Mom (your waitress) makes you sit up, keep your elbows off the table AND eat your veggies. The last time we ate there our son did not eat his vegetables so when he ordered dessert he received his uneaten plate of green beans topped with whipped cream instead of the sweet treat he ordered. I bet he will think twice about eating his vegetable the next time.
At the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater you are seated or "parked" under the stars to watch clips from some of the cheesiest Sci-Fi horror movies ever made while you enjoy your meal. The ribs, cheeseburgers and Oreo milkshakes can't be beat. Mama Melrose's transports you to Little Italy as you dine on classic Italian favorites like chicken parmesan and spaghetti and meatballs. At the Hollywood Brown Derby you can try the famous Cobb Salad and the grapefruit cake.
The
Animal Kingdom
only has a few choices in Table Service restaurants. As you approach the entrance gate, you will see the Rain Forest Cafe. It is the same food and set up as the restaurant by the same name located in the
Downtown Disney Marketplace.
You do not need to enter the park in order to eat here.
Once inside the park, you choice is limited to the Tusker House which is a Buffet style restaurant that serves foods similar to that of Boma located in the
Animal Kingdom Lodge.
The Yak and Yeti is newest table service restaurant at the Animal Kingdom. The menu consists of Asian inspired dishes like Crispy Honey Chicken, Wonton Soup and delicious Pork Egg Rolls. I can't wait to try this one out on our next trip.
