We were recently at Walt Disney World for a quick last minute adult only weekend vacation and found ourselves without dinner reservations. So, what did we do? We didn't panic; we did what anyone with an iphone with internet access would do. We quickly researched our options using Disney's advanced reservations system and decided to try The Wave. The weave is a relatively new table service restaurant located in the lobby of the Contemporary resort.
There were several options we could have chosen from but we decided to try the Wave. Found here is our review of sorts of this dining experience.
We arrived early for our 6:30 reservation and were pleasantly surprised that a table was immediately available. Then as we were being escorted to a table our surprise turned to disappointment as we were seated in the very back corner of the restaurant! It wasn't like it was the only table open. The entire restaurant had more than half of its tables empty. We sat there for a few minutes staring at the emergency exit while waiting for our server to come to the table. When no one acknowledged we were there we finally gave up and flagged down the same person who had seated us and requested to be moved to the main dining area.
We were moved to a much better table and proceeded to look over the menu and place our order. To start the meal we shared the Strawberry Flatbread Salad which was delicious. We were also served warm multi grained bread with butter and pink sea salt. For the main meal I ordered the Grilled Beef Tenderloin with a Port Wine Jus, Potato and Onion Gratin, and Summer Ratatouille. It was perfectly cooked to order and paired well with the Pinot Noir Discovery wine flight. My husband ordered the Linguini with Florida Littleneck Clams and Rock Shrimp with chunky Tomato Broth. He very much enjoyed his meal but thought the portion size could have been larger. He also ordered and loved the Passion Fruit Mojito.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience at The Wave. The only negative was that we were initially seated in the back of the restaurant and we were a little disappointed in the decor. As far as Disney is concerned, this restaurant fell short on theme. The outside looks ultra modern with its cool blue wave design and this design carries over into the bar and waiting area but the restaurant itself is decorated in various shades of brown and as such, is very boring.
We would certainly eat here again.
